Hammering out the shared-use agreement for use of high school artificial turf fields

A DRAFT VERSION of a shared-use agreement for high school artificial turf fields was presented at a Board of Education (BOE) public hearing on Thursday. This Howard County Times article ("Changes urged to agreement on school artificial turf fields", MAY 10) informs about the impact that the proposed shared-use agreement would have on scheduling use of  the artificial turf fields by high school athletic teams (practices, games), non-athletic school groups (marching bands), as well as concerns about high school parking lot issues.

The article announces two (2) upcoming community meetings about the shared-use agreement: TOMORROW (TUESDAY, MAY 15, 6 PM at Glenelg High School; and THURSDAY, MAY 17, 7 PM at Howard County Department of Recreation & Parks headquarters. The BOE is scheduled to vote on the agreement NEXT TUESDAY (MAY 22).

Today HCPSS Superintendent Search: Two "Meet & Greet" opportunities with the finalist candidates

MONDAY, MARCH 26, 2 - 4 PM and 6 - 8 PM -- Howard County Board of Education Building, Ellicott City. The public is invited to meet Dr. S. Dallas Dance and Dr. Renee A Foose, the two finalist superintendent candidates, in a casual setting. (Photos of Drs. Dance & Foose are now posted on the HCPSS website (www.hcpss.org). AT THE EVENING "meet & greet," facilitators from the national executive search firm Ray & Associates, Inc., will monitor an hour-long Question and Answer (Q&A) Forum at which Drs. Dance & Foose will respond to questions generated by the audience. Click here for further details.

The Q&A Forum will be broadcast live on HCPSS-TV, and on local cable (Verizon FIOS Channel 42,  Comcast channel 95).

ON WEDNESDAY, APRIL 11, HCPSS students in grades 6 - 11 will elect a Student Member of the Board of Education to serve for a one-year term. Before they participate in the county-wide election, students are invited to attend a "Meet the SMOB Candidates" forum at the Howard County Association of Student Councils (HCASC) meeting THIS WEDNESDAY, MARCH 14, at the HCPSS Applications & Research Lab (ARL) from 7 - 8:30 PM.
