SATURDAY, MARCH 30, 10 AM - 1 PM -- Howard County Library, East Columbia Branch. Event includes free shredding, "Mind Your Pennies with Buck" activities for children, free credit reports, free tax advice,FREE, on-site tax preparation (courtesy of Liberty Tax and the Office of the Comptroller) and information about personal finance and financial aid for college. Teens are invited to play Yi-Fi, an interactive, eye-opening financial literacy game which explores different financial decisions and their potential consequences. STARTALK is a free program provided by the government which is designed to increase the number of Americans studying "critical need" languages. STARTALK pays tuition for secondary-level students (grades 8 - 12) to learn Arabic, Mandarin Chinese, Hindi or Persian via Howard Community College's (HCC) World Languages Program during the summer months. Students who successfully complete STARTALK receive four (4) college credits, and, with prior approval, may earn a World Language credit for graduation.
