"CHS Friends of Music"

CHS BAND BACKERS is being re-formed as the "CHS Friends of Music" in order to encompass all three music groups at the high school: Band, Choir and Orchestra.

Accordingly, the Band Backers By-laws have been revised to reflect the changes. The updated By-laws will be voted on at the CHS Music Awards Banquet on TUESDAY, MAY 15.

Music parents and guardians, please review the revised By-laws prior to May 15 and send comments to Amy Luking, aluking@verizon.net. The documents are available at the following web links:

May Drivers Ed classes at CHS, Collision Avoidance Training (CAT)

• NEXT SESSION of  CHS Band Backers Driver's Ed class at CHS (Greg's Driving School) begins NEXT MONDAY, MAY 7. Class meets in Room 912 Monday through Friday after school (2:45 - 6 PM) for two weeks. Visit (www.centennialmusic.org/Driver_s_Ed.html) for information.

• MAY SESSION of Howard County Police Department's Collision Avoidance Training (CAT) for licensed drivers age 16 - 20 years: FRIDAY & SATURDAY, MAY 18 & 19, James N. Robey Public Safety Training Center, Marriottsville. Click here for information.

CHS Band Backers ORIOLES NIGHT

  SATURDAY, MAY 12, 7:05  PM  --  Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore. CHS Band Backers invite you to join them for a night of family fun watching the Orioles host the Tampa Bay Rays. All Oriole fans at the stadium that night will receive a FREE Brooks Robinson replica sculpture.

The Orioles will donate a portion of  CHS ticket sales to the Band Backers,  so you can support the O's and the CHS Band Program and enjoy a night of family fun at the same time.

Band Backers Book Fair at Barnes & Noble Booksellers to feature local author-illustrator (and teacher)

THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 6 - 8:30 PM -- Barnes & Noble Booksellers, Ellicott City. Browse and buy at the Book Fair and enjoy solo and ensemble performances by CHS music students, all to support  Centennial High School's  Band programs. The highlight of the evening will be local author and illustrator (and Ellicott Mills Middle School teacher) Michael Bracco , who will discuss his young adult graphic novel series Novo, and his graphic novel for younger readers Adam Wreck and the Kalosian Space Pirates at 7 PM. Band Backers Driver's Ed Session #7 begins THIS MONDAY 

MONDAY, APRIL 16 - FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 2:45- 6 PM -- Room 912. CHS Band Backers, in coordination with  Greg's Driving School, offers a two-week, MVA-certified driver's education class conveniently after school at CHS. Collision Avoidance Training for teens, young adults

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 20 & 21 -- James N. Robey Public Safety Training Center, Marriottsville. Collision Avoidance Training (CAT) is an advanced, defensive driving and vehicle control program provided by the Howard County Police Department (HCPD) for licensed drivers age 16-20 years. The two-day program (12 hours total) is designed to provide young drivers with potentially life-saving knowledge and understanding of vehicle dynamics and hands-on vehicular control skills.  Click here for details.
