Dear CHS Community,

We would like to acknowledge the following persons for their help in planning the Centennial High School PTSA's April 21-22 After-Prom Party:

• After-Prom Committee members Cindi Adams, Mimi Agvald, Amy Clemens, Malinda Hughes, Greta Joseph, Debbie Newman, Rawnie Obrigewitch and Amy Sachs;

• Class of 2013 Sponsors Ms. Erin Fisher and Ms. Cindi AdamsSamantha Wilson;

We also would like to thank Nancy Dankos -- not only for her generous donation from The Steven Dankos Foundation, but for coming to our Prom Promise Assembly on April 17 to share with the Junior and Senior classes the tragedy of losing her 17-year-old son Steven due to a drunk-driving accident. 

And lastly, but most certainly not least, we'd like to express our gratitude to all of the parents and guardians who came out to help run the After-Prom Party at the LifeTime Fitness health club in Columbia on Prom Night. Thank you for forsaking sleep that night in order to make sure that the juniors and seniors who came to the Party had a safe, fun post-Prom place to go. Swimmers support the After-Prom Party

TWENTY-THREE Centennial High School swimmers competed at the 35th annual Howard County Championship Swim Meet on SUNDAY, APRIL 22 (the day after the CHS Junior-Senior Prom) and, although they relinquished their First Place title to Howard High School, the CHS  swim team put up a good fight and came in a close second. As in previous winning years, the Team donated their cash award from the Columbia Aquatics Association to the PTSA After-Prom Party. CONGRATULATIONS -- and thank you -- CHS swimmers! PTSA After-Prom thank-you

Dear CHS community,

I'd like to let everyone know that we had a very successful After-Prom Party this weekend. Tremendous thanks go to PTSA After-Prom Committee Chairs Christie Hunter, Anne Horstkamp and Deb Richmond (our "Terrific Trio") for organizing and so smoothly running such a fun event for Centennial High School juniors and seniors and their guests. To all of the parents and adult After-Prom volunteers who stayed up through the wee hours of Sunday morning to help keep our kids safe: Please accept my sincere but general "thank you" for now. I, and the whole PTSA will thank and acknowledge each community donor, parent donor and After-Prom volunteer individually in an upcoming issue of Quicknotes.

After-Prom tickets to be sold Friday

DUE TO THE RESPONSE to today's sale of After-Prom tickets, tickets will again be available for purchase on FRIDAY, APRIL 20 during all Lunch periods.

If you want an After-Prom ticket but will not be at school Friday, please put your After-Prom PERMISSION FORMS/WAIVERS (click here to download them) and $5 per ticket in an envelope marked "After-Prom Tickets" and drop the envelope in a box on Ms. Kelly Vickers' desk in the Front Office. We will hold your ticket for you at check-in at LifeTime Fitness.

REMEMBER! ALL THREE (3) PERMISSION/WAIVER FORMS MUST be completed and signed by the student and parent in order to purchase an After-Prom ticket. Even if you do not intend to participate in rock-climbing at the After-Prom Party, LifeTime Fitness still requires that the Indoor Rock-Climbing Waiver is completed, signed and on record.

Tomorrow: After-Prom Assembly for Juniors, Seniors

TUESDAY, APRIL 17,  1:20 - 2:10 PM -- Auditorium. When River Hill High School football player Steven Dankos was killed two years ago as a result of drinking and driving, his friends and family created a Foundation in his name in an effort to keep area teens safe and substance-free and to try to prevent the same heartbreak from befalling other Howard County families. Last year, the Foundation donated $10,000 to these ends. Steven's mother, Nancy Davis, will share her poignant story with CHS Juniors and Seniors. Absolutely your LAST CHANCE to buy After-Prom tickets

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18, all Lunch Periods -- Front Lobby. PTSA After-Prom Party tickets $5 each. PLEASE NOTE:

• There are three (3) After-Prom Party WAIVER FORMS which must be completed and
   signed by a parent or guardian and presented at the ticket sales table before you can purchase
   an After-Prom Party ticket.
•  The Indoor Rock Climbing Participation Waiver Form must be completed, signed and
    turned in, even if you have no intention of participating in that activity.
•  Even if you are, or your guest is, 18 years of age or older, all three forms must be signed
   by a parent or guardian.
