Student takes first place in "Renewing the Dream"essay contest

CONGRATULATIONS to senior Sara Calvert for taking First Place, high school level, in the 27th annual Howard County Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Holiday Commission's annual student essay contest. Sara's winning essay addressed the question, "In considering Dr. King’s dream of equality for all, what does 'Renewing the Dream' mean to you and what can you do to 'Renew the Dream' in your school and/or local community?"

Sara will be recognized at the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration held at the Howard Community College Horowitz Visual and Performing Arts Center/Smith Theater on Sunday, January 15.

CONGRATULATIONS to senior Alexandra "Alex" Stroud for being named to the 2011 All-County Field Hockey Team, First Team; Alex is included in this Howard County Times  review of individual All-County First Team players.
