2012-2013 JROTC enrollment, interviews

JROTC enrollment period: MONDAY, DECEMBER 5 - JANUARY 20, 2012

CENTENNIAL HIGH SCHOOL does not offer a Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) Program, but Atholton, Howard and Oakland Mills high schools do offer the JROTC Program. Parents of students interested in enrolling in JROTC should contact the School Administrator and JROTC Instructor at one of the high schools listed above to arrange for an interview. (An interview does not guarantee acceptance into the JROTC Program.) DEADLINE FOR INTERVIEW REQUESTS: FRIDAY, JANUARY 20, 2012.

 

Teens behind the wheel: Collision Avoidance Training (CAT)

FRIDAY & SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9 & 10 -- James N. Robey Public Safety Training Center, Marriottsville. The Howard County Police Department offers an advanced, two-day defensive driving and vehicle control program for drivers age 16 to 20 years who'd like to acquire more specialized experience on the road. Students must attend both sessions (12 hours total) and bring a vehicle; valid driver’s license required. Class size is limited. FEE: $95. More information here, REGISTRATION FORM is here.

THE PTSA'S HOSPITALITY/ STAFF APPRECIATION COMMITTEE will present each member of the Centennial High School staff  -- teachers, office staff, school custodians, food service workers, bus drivers, etc. -- with a gift container filled with an assortment of home-made holiday cookies. It's a "sweet" way to let every one of these people (approximately 185 of them!) know  how much they, and their contributions to the school, are appreciated.

COOKIE VOLUNTEERS are needed -- Can you bake us four (4) dozen cookies?
                                                                                   -- and/or can you help us sort and pack cookies?

Attention parents, guardians: Family Life & Human Sexuality health education to be taught

BEGINNING MONDAY, JANUARY 2, 2012 -- Health Education classes at Centennial High School will begin instruction in the Family Life & Human Sexuality Unit. THE NEW, ANTI-BULLYING audiovisual presentation shown to the School Improvement Team (SIT) at its November 15 meeting was produced by students in Ms. Kristin Taylor's PRINICIPLES OF MARKETING CLASS, not Mrs. Rebecca Clark's class.
