From the Health Room: Attention parents

Please come to the Health Room to pick up any student pain medications, asthma inhalers or EpiPens that have been kept there during this school year. We have many medications and would like to return them to you -- they cannot be left in the Health Room over the summer to be used next year. Please call 410 313-2533 if you have  questions. Our treat: PTSA end-of-year luncheon for school staff

TUESDAY, JUNE 21 -- Cafeteria 11:45 AM. Our traditional "thank you" to school staff to acknowledge another great year of working together. There will be a smorgasbord from Panda Buffet. (Chopsticks optional.)

Prepare for Success school supplies drive

Centennial High School is the first school to hold a collection for this organization in nearly five years.

MANY THANKS thanks to the parents, students and faculty members who donated new and unused items to the Prepare for Success school supplies drive sponsored by the CHS Horizon Club. We're happy to report that more than 350  items were donated to support Howard County school children in need.

Please bring unused, new school supplies to CHS

School supplies collection for Howard County students in need ends THIS WEDNESDAY. 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 15 -- Collection boxes outside of Front Office. Do your students have any school supplies that were not used this year? The CHS Horizon Club is sponsoring a school supplies drive for Prepare for Success, an organization dedicated to providing supplies to Howard County students in need. Please bring in new or unused school supplies to CHS. Thanks!

Capitol Debate information meeting

TUESDAY, JUNE 14, 7 PM -- Media Center. Parents and students in grades 8 - 11 are invited to an information session about the benefits of developing debate skills and details about debate programs available at high schools and middle schools through Capitol Debate, a non-profit organization that partners with HCPSS to teach competitive debate and public speaking skills to Howard County students.

CHS students to serve community via Leadership U, Youth on Board

Rising juniors Jake Balcom, Jenna Griffiths and Matt Keimig will be participating in the Fall 2011 class of Leadership U of Howard County (LU). Students apply for LU in March of their sophomore year; they participate in a four-month program of leadership and community-based training and work on community service projects with students from all over Howard County.

2010 LU graduate Sandia Akhtar is a Youth on Board student who will be serving on the Board of Directors of the Bright Minds Foundation.

Spring sports 06.13.11

Dave Kendrick was one of 17 Howard County students selected to play on the Howard County Senior All-Stars  baseball team, which won the annual "Battle of the Counties" tournament June 4 at Joe Cannon Stadium in Hanover on June 4. Howard County Times story is here.
