Centennial High School Principal Dr. Carl S. Perkins invites parents who own and/or operate an area business or practice to come to a 7:30 AM breakfast meeting on Tuesday, November 17 to share ideas about mutually beneficial partnership with the high school. The goal will be to identify, create and build opportunities to support and enhance local businesses and professions, and in so doing enrich educational opportunities for CHS students.
A "Centennial Partnership Parent" might:
mentor students who are interested in pursuing careers in law, engineering, medicine, business, communications, the arts, etc.;
serve as an advisor for student projects and scholarships (academic and extracurricular);
share real-life, career-path experiences with students as a classroom speaker;
interview high school Juniors during mock interview practice sessions in the Spring.
"Centennial Parent Partners" could benefit by drawing on school resources and student service opportunities arranged by the school. The school could make available:
a pool of volunteer student interns to assist in business activities and projects;
a crew of student helpers for special events and projects;
a variety of talent for special events -- Centennial High School has a wealth of student musicians, vocalists, actors, dancers and artists who are eager for performance opportunities;
enhanced visibility in the community through school newsletters and media relations.
