Updates PTSA Meeting Reminders CHS PTSA Spring General Meeting to elect officers for 2008-09 will be held this evening at 7:45p in the CHS cafeteria. Monthly board meeting will be held this Wednesday, May 14, 7:00p in the CHS Student Services Lounge. Distribution of funds will be finalized. Sports Updates Today's double header lacrosse games: CHS vs Howard boys, 5:00 at CHS and CHS vs River Hill girls, 7:00, @ CHS have been postponed to tomorrow due to wet fields. Grounds will not allow us to play on our fields today Boys lax CHS 12, Atholton 6 Model UN Fundraising Night Centennial High School's Model UN group is holding a fundraising night at Champp's Bar and Grill in Columbia on May 14th. 15% of the proceeds go towards benefiting the Model UN group at CHS. The money helps to defray costs of attending conferences, which allows students to gain public speaking and research skills, while being informed of international issues from countries around the world. The fundraiser is from 5-10 PM on the 14th. Download the flier HERE and provide the flier to the waiter/waitress when you attend. Thank you for your support of the future diplomats of America. After Prom - Update The After Prom Party, held at AMC Movie Theater in Columbia, was a major success with 475 students attending. We want to thank all of you who helped make this event so great for our students. A very special thank you goes to some very generous sponsors. These donors include: The CHS Booster's, The Dorsey Merchants Association, Allegis Group foundation, and Liberty Mutual Life Insurance. In addition, we had many individual and business donations that came in after our previous acknowledgment in the May/June edition of the Eagle's Eye. Updates Spring Recital - Dance The Dance Department, under Becky Clark's leadership, is having a Spring Recital this Thur and Fri @ 7:00 p.m in the auditorium.! All seniors will be recognized during the Friday performance. Jazz Event Tues, May 6th 7 pm Community Jazz Event at CHS featuring the Morgan State University Jazz Ensemble Melvin Miles, Director. As a second place winner she qualifies to attend the National competition at the University of Maryland this June...which is also aired on the History channel!! Sports Scores Updates Baseball CHS 4, Howard 0 JV did not play Softball CHS 5, Howard 3 JV did not play Boys Lacrosse CHS 10, Marriotts Ridge 7; JV CHS 10, Marriotts Ridge 4 Girls Tennis CHS 4, Howard 1 Boys Tennis CHS 4, Howard 1 Girls Lacrosse JV Marriotts 15, CHS 11 Charl du Toit will be competing at the Pennsylvania State Acrobatic Gymnastics Championship competition in a mixed pair team and also in a men's four team on May 4th (http://www.acroregion7.org/calendar.htm ). Acrobatic Gymnastics is one of 5 disciplines under the auspices of USA Gymnastics. During local (East coast) meets in the past month he has won 6 Gold medals. COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AWARD This award, sponsored by the Centennial High School PTSA, will be presented to a Centennial High staff member during the Senior Farewell Assembly on May 23. The nominee may be any current member of the CHS staff; both teaching and non-teaching staff are eligible to receive this award. This current staff member must have demonstrated a committed and caring attitude toward the students and his/her fellow staff members. Anyone in our CHS community (staff, students, parents, community members) may nominate a staff member by completing the COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE AWARD form (Download HERE)and returning it to the CHS office by Friday, May 2, 2008. Nominations forms may be picked up in the CHS office or downloaded from the PTSA website or Quicknotes (HERE).
