Our mission:
· To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children.
· To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children.
· To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation.

Our Objectives
· To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship.
· To raise the standards of home life.
· To secure adequate for the care and protection of children and youth.
· To bring into closer relation the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth.
· To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social and spiritual education.

Centennial PTSA provides the following (just to name a few):
• Quicknotes – weekly e-mail calendar/notices to the CHS community
• Monthly publication of the Eagle’s Eye newsletter
• CHS Student Directory
• Annual Prom Promise assembly and substance-free After-Prom Party for students
• Scholarships to several graduating seniors (4 last year)
• Grants to each class at CHS ($2000 total last year)
• School improvement/enrichment, such as a media cart and video/DVD cameras last year
• Financial support to HC Drug Free (a county organization)
• Yearlong staff appreciation (luncheons, holiday cookies, etc.)
Even if you do not have the time to volunteer on a committee or attend PTA meetings, your membership dues provide us with necessary funds and the strength of many voices at the county, state, and national levels. It is one small, but important, way that every parent can be involved.
Research has shown that academic achievement among students is higher in schools with active PTAs than in schools without these associations. Schools are challenged to provide every child with the best education possible despite the limitations of tight budgets and government requirements. Schools are expected to do more with less. PTA helps bridge that gap.
Why should you join the PTSA? To be involved in your child’s education, know what is going on at school, get to know the administration and staff, have a say in what happens at your school, be a positive role model for your child, interact with other parents, help keep our students safe, enhance the academic environment at CHS, and gain a better understanding of our school system.
